i just thought i would share what i found with the world

I imagine you understand the satisfaction of "The Ultimate Driving Machine" if you're looking at this post. If not, go on to the next one, noob lol.

Check this out: I have a 1991 318i body housing a 1989 325i engine. I want to sell the engine for 2 Gs, and everything else for a million but craigslist won't allow that many trailing zeros, so I settled for $2500 altogether (obo).

But seriously, I'm selling this car because of all of the minor cosmetic and mechanical details which (though they don't affect the car's performance) are a concern of mine. Being a college student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (you may have seen/heard me speeding around campus. I don’t drive slow unless I’m riding on ‘E’), I have little time outside of school and work, and little money after rent and other necessities are paid to enhance my overall contentment with “The Shark” (That’s what I call it even though my favorite animal is a tiger. That’s what it performs like).
With that being said, let me get to the pros and cons. While they are the same, they may be considered differently depending on who you are. If you are a mechanic by choice, watch youtube videos of BMW enthusiasts displaying their fine-tuned machines' tendencies to burnout on all other "competition", and if you do as much research and online shopping for parts as I do, this car is for you. If not, why are you still here???

Pros: It’s a BMW (that’s enough, right?). It starts every time. 168hp 325i engine. Drop to 3rd, hit 4000+rpms, and you will beat the red light every time or your money back lol. (Disclaimer: I won’t give you your money back. Go faster next time.) Matrix performance exhaust (the sound is almost unparalleled). Small turn radius. BMW handling! Bilstein shocks. 14in alloy performance rims. Optimum gas mileage (40mpg, no lie) at 55mph. 30+mpg between 70 & 80mph. The look (I’ve never wondered which one in the lineup was my car in a full parking lot). It’s available immediately (as soon as I clean it out). I’ll throw in a free joy ride.

Cons: Rev Limiter kicks in at 5500rpms. Odometer obsolete. Gas gauge works until less than ¼ tank of gas (I ran out twice, but the fuel pump whining is an indicator to get more lol). Instrument cluster backlight doesn’t work (I use a light that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but hey it matches the color of the cd player display light). Driveshaft carrier bearing (and maybe driveshaft) needs to be replaced because the driveshaft knocks at low rpms. Door latches need to be replaced. Back windows don’t work. Back left door doesn’t unlock. Back right door doesn’t respond to the power lock. Rear window lock blows the fuse when depressed. No reverse lights (Need to install a new wire). Short somewhere in the tag light circuit. The fools who changed my timing belt, water pump, and steering rack, put the fan belt on the wrong track on the pulley (I’ll tell you who they are so you can avoid them). Need to install an air conditioning belt, but can’t until the fan belt is put on the correct track. Back brakes need to be changed. “Check Engine” light flashes sometimes. Trunk needs a better seal to keep out moisture. Glove box handle broken but opens via “magic” (the latch still catches, so it holds). If I was you (not “were you”), I would just buy the car to get the engine and parts unless you want to make it a sports car (I know I do). But I’m rambling. See it for yourself (I’m not LeVar Burton).

It’s my first car (bought in 2005), and we have been through so much together (exhaust manifold gasket, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, radiator, steering rack, brake, spark plug wires, brake light switch, rear differential, gas tank, stop me at any time, driveshaft carrier bearing, flex disc guibo, wind shield washer hoses, coolant hoses, throttle body coolant hose, temperature sensors, drive belt, air conditioning belt, etc. replacement, 3 speeding tickets, and 1 for window tint). I know the classic status of the car, and I love it like a child. Though it will be difficult to tear myself away from it (like when my parents dropped me off at Alabama A&M University for undergrad and bounced on me…I almost cried lol), it can be done. Will you accept the challenge? This message will self-destruct.

Sounds like all common e30 issues rolled into one fine product.
