^ i can understand suzuki pulling out. they'd only been in for a year and didn't really have a brand identity centered around the sport, and what effort they did put in, they didn't really attempt to capitalize on (at least stateside).
subaru was more of a surprise for that reason, and the FIA's homologation rules probably make the impreza the best example of "win on sunday, sell on monday" that exists in the past 10-20 years.
it was still cool this year watching P. Solberg claw his way up the leaderboard and bring the fight to Citroen at times with one of their own 3-year-old cars, in the same kind of root-for-the-underdog way that i always pulled for subaru, but... given that their last world championship was in 2001, and the current economic climate, i'm sure the decision was made somewhere that the juice was no longer worth the squeeze.
and speaking of Group B, i found a couple videos recently in the "too fast to race" series- great history on that time of the sport. had seen one years ago and just discovered there was a "vol 2". i'm not sure if the torrents are still alive but i can start new ones if anyone wants.past:
1989 325is (learner shitbox)
1986 325e (turbo dorito)
1991 318ic (5-lug ITB)
1985 323i baur
current:
1995 M3 (suspension, 17x9/255-40, borla)
