    I f'ing hate the dmv

So 2 years ago I got pulled over for 77 in a 55. It was really a 65, but I figured the safest spot to pull over was a pull off spot from construction equiptment that vacated the area 6 months prior. I was given a no front plate ticket at the same time. This incident cost me $515, and I was given 6 points. The reason why I bring this up now is because payment is due for new yorks fantastic "driver responsibility program" which forces me to pay $100/year for 3 years because I have points. Pretty much traveling at an acceptable speed costs $815, state troopers can't plea bragin because they took too many bribes, judges won't let you get a word in, and if you don't pay up they take away your license.

Are all states this expensive? Is the driver responsibility program commonplace now?

      Lol come to California.
And be lucky you're not in Germany.
Half the people here would of not gotten their licence yet.

I feel like ours have gotten better with lines, although they are still miserable when it comes to needing 18 million forms for a simple task.

11 and you loose your license, for 18 months. It's funny in NY you'll notice your speed always coincides with the point brackets, as in if you were going 18 over they'll put 22 for those extra 2 points.

Because everyone always does the posted speed limit. You've never been in a hurry to get anywhere.

I have but if you actually do the math speeding doesn't really save you much time.

Then again, now that I'm older I do a better job of being on top of my shit and leaving at an appropriate time.

The distance I was going it saved less then a minute and a half- not a lot. The fact of the matter is that nobody travels our highways at 65 or even 55, the normal pace is about 75.

don't listen to z31, he hasn't been able to keep a car on the road long enough to accelerate to speed limit.

NC recently began to suck. Troopers cut a deal with the state that percentage of their pull-over fines goes directly to their retirement funds. It's really retarded.

It's only gonna get worse as cash-strapped municipailities look for more easy money. :(

Yeah, everyone speeds, but I just try to not stick out too much. Go a little slower than everyone else and don't speed when you don't need to...

Oh, and front plates suck, but it's dumb to not run one if the law requires. I don't want the revenue enhancement collectors to have any reason to jack me especially since they're under pressure to write anything they can.

+1 for don't speed. I've still never gotten a speeding ticket ever, and don't mind being the slow one on the road. It saves so little time that the extra stress and brain power needed to drive safely at speed just isn't worth it. Or at the least, speed intelligently.

I've never had an issue here with the dmv or excessive fines here in CO either. Move out of NY?

Ha Ben, I waited all of 30 seconds to get my license renewed this time around. Christmas Eve ftw!
