These for in home use... Yes everyone can say that Bose is overrated but I like them. Plus I was a n00b when I bought these. AND when my dad was into Audio equipment Bose was actually a great company lol.

Seems like I love collecting headphones so here's a list of my headphones.

I'm not a big fan of over the ear headphones but I do own 2:

Panasonic RP-HC500
Sound quality on them aren't that bad, but the NC feature has to be one of the best I've tried on so far. I usually use them to game.

Ableplanet NC1000CH
Not many people heard of them but they are awesome. The company first started and still is making hearing aids. They blended their hearing aid technology into the headphone which helps people who hearing problems to hear clearer. The sound quality of their headphones are awesome. I have a slight hearing problem (hard to hear certain frequencies sometime) and these thing works like a charm. I compared it with bose(so overrated), Panasonic, and audio-technica to see the difference and by far, I can hear much clearer with the ableplanet.

Sennheiser PXC300:
Awesome on ear NC headphones. Sound quality is great and easy to travel with. Only thing I don't like about it is the NC stick. Other than that, I like them a lot.

I'm more into the small in-ear headphones.

Sennheiser CX400
Decent quality, small, lightweight, and they block out enough background noise. They're my carefree earphones.

Song MDR-AS50
Awesome pair of earphones if you're active! I highly recommend them if you're looking for active headphones. I use to listen to them when I ride bike and workout.

Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi
Very decent headphones too. The mid-high sounds pretty good and clean. The low are pretty muffled.

Shure E4c
These guys were badass when they first came out (besides the e5). Good mid-high range. They could have use a little more low but I guess their upper model fixed that. The memory foam made the earphone very comfortable and it helped to block out everything.

Shure SE420
Another great set of earphones! A definite upgrade from the E4c with the low, but it wasn't clean. I ended up giving it away to my friend.

Klipsch Custom 3
These guys have to be my favorite earphones that I own. Very comfortable and fit nicely in the ear. They are another great pair of active earphones. Very good low, mid, and high range. I only use them when I travel.

Right now I would like to get my hands on the Monster Miles Davis Tribute earphones. They are amazing compared to all the other headphones I have tried on. But too bad I'm not balling enough.

I just tried a friends set of Grado SR125's a few days ago. I really enjoyed them, enough I think I'm going to close my eyes and pick up a set myself if my paycheck is big enough to cover them and my other expenses this time around :)

HD280. No ear shattering bass, but they've got some solid quality. Cheap too.

sennheiser and grado sell in all the audiophile magazines for crazy money to people that rarely have heard them. I dislike grado not only for the reason luke mentions (I have a big melon too), but also the sound is just wrong.

Best bang for the buck, and the headphone that my ear likes best is definitely AKG. Upgrade the cord, get a clean tube headphone amp and ideally get it dialed in. Ideally you're using a outboard DAC with clean power. I'm a big fan of the headphone route, but it will let you know about noise in the signal path better than most of the speakers you've ever heard.

Consider the very famous sex amp, which I think Luke might actually know the guy who made these.



Before you meander down the road of highend audio though, listen to as many peoples gear as you can before you plop down any money. It is a money hole that has the e30 beat hands down. I'm still in audio rehab.

If you're strictly an Ipod guy and only listen to overcompressed digital music, consider just making a CMOY pocket amplifier and feeding it to a nice set of shure buds. I have a chocolate altoid case saved for just this purpose.

I had a set of those before my HD-280 Pro. Great set of sealed cans. The only reason i stopped using them was because the wiring got fucked up (my fault). They're spectacular for the money, you'll be very happy with them.

What do you want out of your headphones?

What will you be using them for, where, and do alot of headphones feel uncomfortable?

i would be using them to listen to all types of music at work, home, and occasionally on the road/airplane.

most headphones do not feel uncomfortable... except for earbuds

Why you don't have Grado 225s on that list is beyond me.

i need some noise isolation and do not want disturb anyone that may be around me... so they would need to be closed headphones.
