    honda pilot

yes its not bmw, thus being in the off topic area

so my son who lives on the east coast ( i on the west) needs a family car while he is back in school
he has a family, 3 kids. 2 dogs, 2 horses ( the horses wont ride in it and he has no intention of pulling a trailer with it)
he just needs it to last his family about 3 more years till hes out of school and he is on a tight budget

he is looking at a 2004 honda pilot with 55k on it, balck tan leather, needs tires

amyone know any good or bad or issues with these

he did get permission from the dealer ( a non new used lot) to run it into a honda dealer for pre-sale inspection
carfax came back ok, showed minor wreck, air bags deployed ( in 2006)
but does not have a damage/wreck.total title, its clean. the deler ha only had it since dec 2nd
so I told him make sure they really check out the front end ( had pass fender replaced), alignment suspension issues as well as recall addressed adn anything else they do in a pre-inspection

or any honda delaer to avoid in baltimore where the car is ( a kia dealer found it for him)

and then afterwards a good honda deler in the hershey pa area ( where he lives)
hes been hunting for one in his area, but they have been junk or out of his price range 13k

Watch out for the plugged EGR ports in the Manifold.

My parents bought one new in 04 and sold it to my brother about a year ago. It's been a great car and they've had no major issues. My parents upgraded to a new MDX and my dad actually prefers how the Pilot rode. I know a couple other people that have had them and loved them.

I'd try to find out more about the accident if possible, but if it was minor and the Honda dealer says it's clean then it should be a good car for him and his family.

I always think the Pilot looks like a CR-V with a tech2 kit.

We just bought a CPO Acura MDX for my wife and 2 kids. It's basically a fancy Honda Pilot. It's been great so far - lots of room for all 4 of us, big cargo area, tons of bells and whistles. The mileage is pretty lousy, but that's the only downside. I've looked into maintenance parts for it, too, and they are fucking cheap compared to BMW stuff.

Like others have said, I would get as much info as possible on the accident and double-check the work that was done to fix it. I've only been in one Honda Pilot v6 awd model and it seemed like a nicely put together car.

There is too much electro-mumbo-jumbo in the MDX. I'll stick with the same year Pilot.
