Engine swaps have been done on the Ruckus using 250 cc engines. One that comes to mind used a Honda Helix 250 cc motor. That scooter was plated and registered as just a standard 49 cc Honda Ruckus scooter. Not sure what kind of trouble the owner got in with it if any. I sold him the engine for the swap. He custom fabricated the mount for the Helix engine and braced it pretty well.
So even though it can be done does not make it legal in the state of California.
In general the Ruckus was not meant for large engine displacement and this results in lack of stability and manuverablity once one goes beyond a certain size engine.

Next question, is it possible to make the ruckus freeway legal LOL

When I first bought my ruck 2 years ago, I added an ATR stretch kit and cut down the stock seat frame. I've been cruising it down to the beach and around town 100% reliably ever since (about 3000 miles). I love it. Those $6000 gy6 100% custom rucks are cool, but I prefer my stocker that can take a beating and not flinch.

That bike was built by friend dorbyworks. Illest wheels and rucks in the game. I love your magnum btw. So ill.

I blast around on a moped. I'd love to have a ruckus some day, but this thing doesn't need a license and the one time $25 registration doesn't hurt either.
