    Crackberry choices...

Gearing up to replace my Samsung Sway (God's curse) through Verizon Wireless and I am choosing between three astonishingly affordable phones. If you own any of the three please provide some feedback, if you own a Samsung Sway I'll be your shoulder to cry on (no homo).

    - Blackberry Curve 8530 at $49.99
    - Blackberry Storm 9530 at $49.99
    - Blackberry Tour 9630 at $99.99

Please, no recommendations outside of these three, iPhones are for trendy hipsters; the only reason I'm considering a Blackberry is not to be "that guy" or to update my Facebook status 37 times a day but because they're priced at or around the same price as a decent flip phone.

    Thanks for any recommendations guys.

Among those, I would take the Tour hands-down. The Curve is already basically obsolete. The touch screen Storm sucks, since you're eliminating the best part of a BlackBerry (the keyboard). I would forget both of those.

I've got a Bold and my dad has the Tour. I like the huge screen on my Bold and it's the fastest BlackBerry I've ever used. But it's too big and the battry life could be better. My dad's Tour is about perfect.

I say go for the 9630 or 8530. I personally don't like the storm even though it is a "touch" screen. The digital qwerty key on the storm is pretty slow and might take some time getting use to. Also the fact that you have to actually touch an icon/app and then push down on the screen to open the app was really irritating; felt like you're doing twice the work compared to other touch screen phones.

The 8530 feels really cheap, not as solid as the 9630. Other than that, it's a decent phone, very similar to the 9630.

If you're more into texting or emailing, I would go with the Tour or the Curve. But if you're more into web browsing, then I think the storm might be better.

Try asking Verizon rep to see if they have a 15 day trial on the phones. I know T-mobile and At&t have something like that so verizon might too.

Thanks for the tips guys, yeah the touchscreen on the Storm worries me more than anything. I have used the digital QWERTY keyboard on my father's LG Dare and I have nothing good to say about it. So, I'd say it's between the Curve and the Tour (although, as Emre mentioned, the Curve is outdated and it may be wortht he extra $50 to get the Tour/9630.)

          Keep'em coming guys.

Definitely spend the extra 50 bucks for the Tour. You'll regret it if you don't.

Agreed. i stongly prefer T-Mobile for BlackBerry service. It's been dead reliable for me. Never had a dropped call...ever. Excellent coverage as well.

I had a curve, it froze a decent amount, was slow at times, and would collect dust under the screen quickly. Cant really recommend it.

After having a 6500, two Curves, and a Bold, I recommend the Tour.

Well, first, congrats on taking the leap to the dark side. You'll love the interface with the BB. Now, as someone who's worked for Verizon for the last couple years, I'd recommend the tour hands down to any of the others out there. Touch screen is great; when it works correctly. The storm and storm2 have both seen issues stemming from a bad UI when it comes to the surepress screen. The down side to the tour however, is the trackball. I love my tour but this has been my one issue. It tends to randomly stick when scrolling through menus. I partially blame this on the fact that I bought the phone when it hit the sales floor, so im sure the kinks are worked out. Those are my .02, take it or leave it but I hope it helps. =]

Well I have the Curve and it hasn't really given me any problems so far. The only problem I see is that the alarm is real annoying but it wakes me up. But my friend has the tour and it is faster than mine hands down. But i love my Curve.. Get the tour(faster).

I was down to the Tour or the Moto Droid, I like the tour a ton, but I went with the droid.
