Parking ticket in Michigan

So I get this parking ticket while I'm at Michigan State (or whatever the school in East Lansing is). I was there for 3 days to attend an engineering seminar last May. The first day there, I ended up in the wrong parking lot. I found out when I had a parking ticket on my previous car that I no longer even have. I had no idea, I've never even been to Michigan State before. I actually tried finding the campus security to explain the situation, but good luck finding it if you're not from there. Following the advice of a few of the other guys at the seminar, I ignored it figuring it's a college campus parking ticket, who the fuck cares.

Fast forward to today. I get a paper in the mail saying they want $60 for the ticket from almost 8 months ago, or make a court appearance to defend my case. I have no interest in making a court date since I'm in Florida. Anyone from Michigan know what my options are? Legal stuff just gets too confusing and frustrating.

both of those have passed before I even got the notice.

In Louisiana we use state police for campus police. It's a fuckin joke thats for sure. Sort it out.

Oh I can do you better with parking tickets in lansing

When I live in MI I did lots of work in lansing (construction building roads , sewer and water systems)

Well I pull up in front of our storage yard in the am parked on the wrong side of the street on a road we have closed even though the 1st 2 layers of asphalt on it, its still closed.

I get 2 parking tickets outta that deal, so I give them to my Inspector who's job it is to take them to the City engineer and get it handled.

Well fast forward 5 months, and I have 2 warrants for my arrest and I have to spend 2 days in lansing taking the time off work to get this shit fixed and taken off my record, and explain that the road was closed and well marked with barricades and all signage. It was a huge pain the city wanted it 120 bucks plus late fees, and all kinds of shit for 2 tickets that should never have been issued.

I was fortunate though that I had the city engineer, and the chief guy from the board of water and light, standing there with me. I did a lot of work there over the years for a well respected company so they took time outta their days to come down with me.
