    So I got a moped

I got a 1978 vespa moped the other day and I have spent the last week cleaning it up buying parts for it to run. I though that I would share it in all it's glory. :-D

Whoa, the wayback machine has dispensed. My friend had that model, I had the trick 2-speed Puch Maxi. That was when we were 15 in '83. In CA you could ride a moped with a Learner's Permit, so it was the thing to do until you got your Driver's License. I'll bet a lot of us older guys got our first taste of vehicular freedom on a moped like that.

Meh, all of me and my buddies had similar peds. Buddy had a puch similar in looks to the one above. I had a yamahopper 50cc thing was so fun. Same reason we rode as you did and I'm only 20.

Ha Ha, nice. I heard the Maxi's are pretty great, my friend has one as well. Apparently now in California because it is under 50cc I don't need to register it, get it insured, and I don't even have to have a license to ride it on public roads. I thought that was a little crazy but whatever. I'm thinking of using it as my DD because my e30 doesn't exactly get 100 mpg like this does.

Seems not much has changed. We didn't have a 50cc law then, there was an exception for mopeds and Learner's Permits. Mine had a license plate when I bought it, but I never registered it or had insurance.

Thanks, yeah it is actually kinda fun to ride using up all its 2hp. Sometimes you can find them pretty cheap but even if you end up paying more than you want it will return your investment with $5 per every month in gas instead of the 20 a week that a car costs. Plus no insurance or registration (at least in CA):D.

payed 50 bucks for my yamahopper back in the day. Rode that bitch for a long time.

this is almost exactly what it looked like. Except some other little things I did to it.

I have ruckus fever, even though I was looking at craigslist for a moped to trash, my mind keeps wandering to the ruckus.
