No one complained when the rights of the people under the Constitution were harshly curtailed under Bush/Cheney with the Patriot Act and other bits of legislation.

But if ol' Obama says anything, and I mean anything, people here are off like barking dogs.....

I don't like Obama's policies thusfar, but I look at long term trends. Bush & Co. pretty well fucked over the US, maybe even irreparably. Time will tell. Will Obama help? I don't know. I hope so, but I'm pretty disillusioned with the US government's willingness to help anyone other than rich motherfuckers. Wealth does not trickle down.

If you still think the GOP/Conservatives are trying to save America from the evil Liberals, you might want to read this book. You will see that these "Family men" don't give a shit about this country, only about personal power and wealth at the expense of the country. Of course, actually reading well-researched books and educating oneself through a wide variety of outlets, rather than one or two big networks regarding the true state of this country would take away from hours of exciting and productive Obama bashing online. ;-)

Other than a few passing references, I couldn't find the usual vitriol laden threads here decrying the loss of civil liberties. No threads specifically attacking it can be found, unlike threads specifically attacking Obama, liberals, etc. Most of the boys over at Fox stridently defended it. CNN, other than a few mumbling articles gave its assent.

BTW,.....I've been following the news via a variety of sources actively since about, oh, 1979 when I was in High School....
