gluten free ftl

it's been discovered that i have a gluten/wheat allergy, same for my brother. He's been on a strict gluten free diet and it seemed to help him with some issues he had.

it seems like this gluten free stuff is popping up everywhere and I get suspicious that it's getting blown out of proportion (although I have heard it can make a dramatic difference for some people) and that a group of people are collecting some serious cash from it all. Shit's expensive.

Anybody else heard of this or have experience? I don't feel like registering on a healthy foods forum. So i am posting on r3v

My roommate *thought* he was gluten intolerant for a while. Sucks that you legitimately are though. I have a feeling it's somewhat of a fad now. They have like conventions and shit where you can get samples of gf foods.

There is a ton of gf food now, he had cookies, crackers, beer, you name it. He lost a ton of weight on the gf thing though, although that just may be because he has really strange eating habits.

I can't speak for a lot of the food, but the crackers I tried tasted like cardboard. They were incredibly bland.

i have 2 friends that are allergic to gluten. they have been off gluten for about three years and have both lost over 50+ pounds. they were both obese. they said its hard to get used to gluten free food but after a while its nothing. Good luck!

Yeah I dont know if my issues are Gluten intolerance or just IBS. I suspect its just IBS as I have always thought but the symptoms are similar

I feel your for your situation as I would not pass my issues on to my worst enemy

Good luck with a No gluten diet its a PIA I tried it for a bout a week but could not keep up long enough to see any improvements and its hard to find that kind of food with my current living/work arrangements

I actually have a gluten intolerance. At first I thought it was celiacs which is pretty serious, but come to figuer out that it wasnt thankfully.

I stayed on a true gluten free diet for about 6 months. It is tough for sure but can be done. You end up eating alot healthier, but it is expensive.

OOH ya, there is Gluten Free beer, and it isnt all that bad.

there are about3 diffrent varieties at least that i could find locally.
