I wouldn't care. But considering you guys are one of the most nationalistic countries... I mean "one of the greatest countries" in the world I can't understand how you wouldn't find it insulting to the IOC and Canadians the statement "medals were hammered out of a Molson cap".

You guys play so butt hurt over how bad Canada is. I never see Canadians on here bashing Americans so much. Yeah you annoy us sometimes, yeah we don't agree with you. But you are our neighbour and one of our biggest trade partners. We need each other.

It’s just a game. It’s not like any of us armchair experts actually contributed in any way to the results. So why get so worked up when “our” team wins or loses?

Nonetheless, as a Canadian, I’m proud of my country and of the way our organizers and the vast numbers of volunteers successfully managed such a huge event, and how our athletes performed and behaved themselves on the world stage.

Early in the games, we had high hopes for Canadian Jennifer Heil to win gold in the ladies’ freestyle moguls event. Jenn had a great run and was leading with only the American Hannah Kearney still to run. Then Hannah put in an even better run to take the gold medal. Sure, Canada was disappointed not to see Jenn win the gold, but nobody begrudged the fact that Hannah clearly had the best run and thereby fully deserved her gold medal.

You didn’t hear any Canadians making petty comments about “that hilarious American accent” or “that god awful song they call their national anthem”.

Simply qualifying to compete in the Olympics is an incredible achievement. Actually winning a medal, even if it is merely Bronze or Silver, is an enormous accomplishment.

There was a lot of pressure on Canada’s men’s hockey team, because the world expected them to win. Face it. The Americans were the underdog team going into this tournament. Canada outshot them by a huge margin. For the Americans to come so close to winning gold was amazing. They have nothing to be ashamed of in the way they played the game. Miller clearly is a champion deserving of a gold medal.

When Crosby scored the winning goal in overtime, my wife (a true Canadian) said, “His mom must be so proud of him”. In fact, every Canadian is proud of him. Just look at all he has already accomplished in his young career. Jeez, I have underwear older than that kid.

And yet, we get the typical moronic comments from Americans on this forum, “God I fucking hate Canada. Now they can descend into irrelevance for the next four years. Sidney Crosby is #1 on my list for pieces of shit Id like to punch in the face.”

Yes, we’re proud of our athletes. Yes we’re proud of our country. But best of all was demonstrating to the world what poor losers Americans are. You guys have no class at all.

In front of the entire world-wide audience, not a single one of your hockey players managed the effort to appear gracious in the honour of being recognized for their achievements in accepting an Olympic silver medal. Every one of those pouty guys looked like they were trying not to spit, “You can keep your stinking silver medals that look like they were pounded with a hammer out of a Molson bottle cap.”

With that disgusting behaviour, and of course the fully expected idiotic comments posted by their fans on this forum, Americans lost any respect they should otherwise have deserved.

But seriously, I'm proud of how a country of 35 million brought home the hardware. The US athletes were great, but you guys have almost 10x the population draw from.

per capita bitches!!!...speaking of which...Norway kicked everyone's ass with a population of only 5 million.
10x the population, but hardly anyone engages in winter sports in the US like they do in Canada as the regular snowfall only occurs in some of the northern states.

Every kid growing up in Canada plays hockey.
In the US, every kid growing up plays baseball, football and basketball.

The US still won the most medals though.
