it is the standard for DJing... had 1200M3Ds and loved them. but i don't know if home listeners enjoying their collection of classics need to justify the investment.

i need to get something, because a family member recently offered to gift me their ancient vinyl. cream/iron butterfly/etc... but buying a turntable is a few hundred bucks i don't get to spend on the car.

I'm not looking into getting into DJing at all, I just want a halfway decent record player. A friend of mine has one that I'm going to ask him about tomorrow but its awesome to listen to, it certainly sounds better than Mp3s. Mostly just something to add to my room for next year so I dunno if I want to spend more than 150 bucks on the table itself. I could probably get speakers for cheap if not free, people are always gettin rid of those.

Your sound system does rule though. We need a piss up before Riley buggers off to the YUK also.

                    While on home audio...

How important are Power conditioners/surge protectors?

I was recommended the APC H15...

Bang & Olufsen's old equipment (pre-mid 80's) from when they actually made audio components and not just fancy art decor was pretty good. I have a B&O Beogram 3400 that my dad bought new in 1980. If you're looking for new stuff, I always liked NAD for a budget line of audio. I never listened to their turntables, but I heard some pretty good reviews for it. Also, keep in mind that you're going to need a phono pre-amp to run a turntable.

                              Lee,

That exact TT is sitting at my Fav vintage audio shop in Rochester, NY. Worth the $400 he wants for it? I'm tempted, although im already spending a good chunk of change to get my New Large Advents refurbished. Not to mention a Bogen Tube amp I might be picking up.

Look at furman. Apc is good for battery back up and maybe some surge. But Furman actually does work. I have 3 in my home theater stack.
