Can't update my ipod/itunes, keep getting error message

So I've been trying to update my iTunes/iTouch software with new update. It's been working fine since new (year ago), recently everytime it goes to install the software, I get an error message saying

"Could not access network location %userprofile/Appdata/Roaming/."

I've followed instructions online on how to repiar registries but I'm still not having any luck

Any ideas? I'm using Vista if it matters

    Thanks

    Sold.......again.

heres what you do. create another account on your computer and make sure you set it as administrator. once you log into that account, install new itunes so that it downloads a fresh new copy of the update. the update you downloaded on the other account most likely was corrupted. thats my input. good luck

I thought about doing that, but was afraid that I wouldn't be able to reinstall it.

itunes is a free download online. all you have to do is completely delete it off your computer and redownload it. if you are worried about losing music or something don't be. they should all be saved in another file on your computer and if they aren't then create a folder on your desktop and put them in it. i have done this and it works.

well I tried creating a new account and re downloading it, didn't help.

Does it sound like a itunes problem or windows problem?

I thought registries were a windows thing?

You could try doing a system restore of your O/S

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

And also "google" the error message you are getting to see if anyone else is having the same problem and if they were able to fix it.

Yeah I tried system restore and searched the error message. It tells you to go in and manually fix the registry that's corrupted. But when I go in and do that, the registry is the correct one.

                      That's what's wierd

                      Sold.......again.

Sounds to me like it is time for a fresh install of windows.

Its been over 6 weeks or so, right?
