If your ever in nor cal hit me up and we can take a tour of the alembic factory where they make 40k basses! Check this crazy ass bass. Every ebony strip in the neck is a $400 option EACH strip!

You've got a great style. Reminds me a bit of a song that left a huge impression on me as a kid watching PBS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN3439l4HR0

And Alembic DOES make great stuff. I haven't found a sweeter preamp than my F-1X.

Interesting you should bring up Michael Hedges. The guy who payed bass on most of his stuff is Michael Manring who basically (haha, get it? I crack me up) designed the Zon "Hyperbass", and is easily the single biggest creator/inventer of any kind of "Harmonic" bass play IMO.

And (HOLY SHIT!) Michael just fuckign around fretless:

Whats that on the headstock he keeps hitting that drops the E string down?

Manring has several types of basses but if I remember correctly, all of those tuning keys have a tunable quick drop. And I even remember that the bridge has a drop. So essencially he can have 4 notes per open string. Just nutty! I have a "how to" vid of him. He is just on another level all together.

OP, nice work. Two had tapping is where its at. Nice work. Get some harmonics in there. I like your style!

                  On the first vid:

Are you using anything at the nut for your pull offs, or are you pulling off to a fretted note?

Regardless, it sounds very nice. You have a nice sense of tone and melody.

                  edit:

                  Nevermind I watched it again.

their electronics are the best ive ever played. tonal range was rediculess. they take 1 pickup and test it against 80 others to find the quietest match, they spray silver paint on the internals.

                      Great songs man!

The guitar playing reminds me of Stanley Jordan.
I've been listening to Stanley since '88.

Who would have thought a car forum changes my entire conception of music and musicians...

I've been listening to the OP's little clips daily since they were posted. This Zon guy's also got some skills. You guys remind me a little bit of John Butler:

Why are all the nitwits who can strum I-IV-V chords headbanging on Leno, but people like you are relatively unknown?

Luke, I think I'm the only person in the world with a copy of Manring's Thonk album. (with Tim "Herb" Alexander on drums)
