        1) Because she hadn't DONE ANYTHING yet. She started a program, good for her. It hasn't had time to do anything yet. If in 10 years it is shown that her program, some magical way, decreased childhood obesity, then great, give her an award then.

        2) It is a simple publicity stunt to get news and air time for Nick. As such it deserves derision. If you didn't have your head so far up her husbands butt, you'd be the first person to call this out as bogus. It's the big corporation taking advantage again, isn't it?

        It's a simple fact that it is unearned. It's done for fluff. Reward should be given to those who earn it. A high school PE teacher has done 100% more than MO to reduce childhood obesity. Why not give the award to one of them, where it is deserved?
