    Need some help

So I bought an E30 from a fellow bimmerforums/r3v'er like a couple years ago. Not exactly sure on the date. Anyway I bought another one after that and I told my friend I'd sell my first one to him. Well when I went to register it when I bought it, I found out that the doucher that sold it to me hadn't registered it since like 2005 and if I wanted to get it registered I'd have to backpay all his shit. Plus it wasn't smogged. Cocksucker. :hitler:

Anyway, fast forward to today. I work during the week so I can't go to the dmv to get it registered. My friend doesn't have a car so he has no way to get down to my house to get the car and/or go to the dmv. I guess he's about to get a job in a week or two and needs a car, so I'm trying to figure out how to get this car ready to go.

He says if I just sign a note saying I sold him the car, he can take that to the dmv and everything will be fine. I call shenanigans. I'm thinking since I never actually registered it in my name, it's still under the PO's name, so my friend would need a signed note from that assbag.

So wtf, how can I get this thing smogged and registered legally?

But I can't go to the dmv during the week. I thought they were closed on weekends? I don't want to miss work since I just started a week ago. :???:

So which one are you selling your friend, the original one you bought from a guy on the forums or the backpay/not smogged one?

It shouldn't really matter though, if you are selling him the one you just purchased but haven't paid reg or smog on you can just write your friend a bill of sale for it. I'm assuming you have either the title signed over to you or a bill of sale from the PO written out to you? Your friend would just need that paperwork along with a bill of sale stating that you sold it to him. Basically they need the paper trail and as long as it adds up it doesn't matter if it went through 15 people who didn't register it.

I'm selling him the one that wasn't registered/smogged for 4-5 years.

Which reminds me, I don't even think I have the frickin pink slip for the damn thing. That was another reason why I couldn't register it.

Fuuuuuuuck, I don't think this thing will be ready in time, lmao.

You'll have to check with your local DMV/DOL. Rules are different by state. In some states I know that if you've had the car in your possesion for 2-5 years you don't need the Title or anything from the PO.
