Anyone with Wild Violet weed experience?

Last year I had half a yellow lawn from dandelion but kicked their ass with Weed-B-Gone and Bayer whatever, so there's very little in front and only some in back... but this year the majority of the area under a big tree in back and a few other spots is covered in this small purple flower.

Any advice or suggestions? I'm about to hit it hard with Bayer Monday or Tuesday after fertilizing Sunday.

Mentions it is a tough one to control, so shit.

This is the same shit that is called "creeping charlie" up here. same purple flower. go to any good hardware store, Ive not seen this shit at home depot or lowes but they may have it too. i always see it at a mom and pop hardware store or buy the shit online. "20 mule team borax"
its a white granulated soap. mix that stuff in a garden sprayer with water at about 1 cup to a gallon and spray your entire area. it will kill the weed youre after but wont kill the lawn. It may slightly brown the grass depending on how strong you make it but it wont kill it. Its the only thing Ive found that works. Experiment with the strength. and give it 5 days to work. if it wasnt strong enough mix it stronger. itll work

Without know where you live or what type of grass you have it is hard to tell you what will work without killing your grass too.

In a liquid I would suggest anything that has Triclopyr in it. The most common products with it are Ortho Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis Killer or Ortho Max Poison Ivy and tough Brush Killer. They are the same product with a different label on the bottle. A bunch of other company's make the same thing. Also you a surfactant or spreader sticker it will help the spray stick to the weeds.

If you have a really big area you can use a granular. Pretty much any lawn weed control would work. They come without fertilizer so you don't have to worry about burning your lawn. Read the directions putting it down correctly makes a really big difference in it working.

I would suggest going liquid and it might take a few applications to get rid of it. If you have any other questions PM me.

Dude, Blunt, hell yeah. I picked up a box of that stuff to kill the ants that came in with the spring. (Actually couldn't find it at the grocery or hardware but was at Wally world - rare visit)

              Cool, I'll try that out!

Indiana... I actually have no clue what grass I have growing. Probably bluegrass? But I'll look into the Ortho you suggested. I have some Bayer with 2-4,D and dicambia and whatever kills crabgrass that I'm about to spray and look next time I'm out for Triclopyr.

I checked with my parents who actually live just on the other side of the township and it is a problem for them as well and their neighbors, so who knows why it popped up in such force this year.

I get just about every damn weed on that list plus about 7 more. Weed and feed right before spring hits is what helps here. The nitrogen feeds the plants but burns the roots of the weeds. Best thing after chemicals is to mow mow and mow, regular and often. As summer progresses the everything smooths out except for the crabgrass and wild strawberries. Try this site, Lawnsite.com

Mike - just yellow spots in your lawn? Too much phosphorus from the urine.
