I did something similar. While my parents were gone camping, I painted the kitchen blood red. Turned out looking great, but they weren't too happy. I was in Seattle at the e30 picnic when they got home though. lol Got an angry call while on the drive actually. :D

My mom ended up liking it after the shock wore off, but it still got painted pale green.
