    Tire Discounters FTL

I took the mk1 in to get some new tires. Took it in last night and left the keys in the key drop and the car was perfectly fine. Came back to pick it up this afternoon. First thing that upset me was they said they couldn't get it to stay in alignment, but they gave me a free one for some other time inside the next year so that worked out fine. Then I walk out to the car, they back it in and this made the huge crack in my lip very visable. One the passengers side there is a huge crack and the drivers side was almost ripped off and one of the bolts on that side was ripped out and gone. The guys took ZERO responsibility for the damage, even tho there was none when I dropped it off in their lot last night. Best guess is that no one at the shop has any idea how to drive a lowered car and tried to drive it onto the quick lift, probly going much faster then he should have. The manager said they hadnt even tried the lift and had just put the car on jack stands, but just a few minutes before I was talking to the guy that did all the work and he said something about "when we put it on the lift." I'm rather pissed now. $60 lip and alot of custom fitting to make it work on the jetta front end and not even a month goes by before some dumb ass breaks it.

NO one in Gtown or lex is worth a shit with lowered cars EXCEPT for Ashleys wheel and brake. What else would you expect from the walmart of tires and alignment?

I hate to say this, but you should know better than to let others handle a modified car. Something can happen. Vent all you want you should.

Yeah, kinda asking for this with a low car and custom lip.

          Lucky on the alignment, though.

I agree with this, i've learned from others mistakes to always be present when work is being performed on my car at a questionable shop, now i try to avoid questionable shops but sometimes for things like inspection there's no real way of avoiding it. A few years ago i took my old 325i for inspection, the engine had a cam etc. the inspector who test drove the car left the shop spinning 1st and chirped into 2nd hard. After arguing with the shop owner i got a discount on my inspection, but who wants to take their car to a shop where it's going to get beat on? I hardly ever drove the car like that, what gave this idiot inspector the right to? On top of that, the shop wanted me to drop off the car in the morning and pick it up around closing time, imagine this is what he's doing to my car while i'm the shop waiting area :hitler: he probably thought the car was dropped off, now the icing on the cake! He said my catalytic converter was a resonator and failed me for emissions. Came back a few days later and the mechanic i usually dealt with (he was on vacation the first time i went for inspection) verified it was indeed a cat and gave me an inspection sticker. Sorry for the long rant :-D

Dude, you took your car to DISCOUNT tire. If you insist on having it done cheap, you'll have to supervise them. I go to a reputable place with a DSP9000, and they know to ask me to drive my car on the lift myself (my old car kept getting stuck on their old lifts).

The only shop I really trust to do any work on the car is in lexington which is 15 or so miles of highway driving from my house. The car simply would have not made it that far on the cheap tires the PO had put on. Before I even took it into the shop the tread had almost come all the way off the tire. I don't mean tire wear, I mean the tires had split into two parts.

@eurptrashm20: I thought walmart was the walmart of tires?
@87e30: Ya, I had a bad feeling about it, but I had classes in the morning and the car really need the new rubber. At least now I can put on my new coils before going back to get my free alignment.

Are you kidding me? You're taking it back there for a free alignment?? This trip cost you a lip, what's the next trip gonna cost you? On top of that they didn't even acknowledge they did any damage to your car, not worth the free alignment in my opinion
