I saw FFDP awhile ago in Boston, they were awesome live! Love their stuff! And I've heard of DD but haven't listened to their stuff... I will check them out when I get off the work computer!

5FDP sounds like they are trying to be radio friendly metal or something. It's like they try to be hard edged while maintaining some pop sensibility or something.

they never really clicked with me despite liking almost every band they're usually grouped with. Its not that i dislike it, just doesnt click

you guys might recognize the vocalist from devil driver Dez Fafara. He was the lead singer of Coal Chamber and their oh so popular "Shock the Monkey" track.

I didnt like Dez until he went over to form Devil Driver. They have a very good song called " The Fury of Our Makers Hand" which fights for the top spot of my favorite song by them.

I haven't listened to metal in years because it's mainly gay, but even then The Black Dahlia Murder was nothing more than a lame American At The Gates knock off.

FFDP makes no claims that they arent trying to be famous and be huge rock stars, Ivan Moody always states he wants his band to achieve success of bands like korn or deftones. To become huge rock stars they know that they can NOT be like a lot of these underground bands that are too brutal for radio. Are they corporate rock, no but are they radio friendly, VERY!

That probably explains why I don't like them. They are TRYING to be famous vs just make good music.

I disagree, both albums have been awesome. They make good music, it just so happens it gets played on the radio. Zultan is an awesome guitarist.

I love 5fdp, even their new album which is a lot different than their old stuff. You should check out Throwdowns last album, they're similiar in the sense that they're a more "melodic" metal band, and they've got a great album out right now. Here are my 3 favs from their newest album:
