Yes I have watched the series finale. This is by far the best show that has ever been put on television. No show comes close to this. The finale was great and did answer a lot of questions and tied up a lot of loose ends. Not all of my questions were answered but the big ones were. Great show and television will never be the same.

So I didnt follow the show at all when it was out. I saw a few random episodes, the recap and the finale. Plus what George posted up added up to my overall understading (Thanks George I'll pass it along to some of my die-hard LOST buddies).

However, here is my only gripe with the whole thing. First, I liked the ending a lot, and for the most part was pretty satisfied by it. Keep in mind, I havent invested six seasons of my time into to, so I may not be as critical as others. My issue with the ending is this:

I get the symbolism of the island and maybe as a result of that symbolism its purpose as well. But apart from that, I really didnt like how the finale didnt give much more insight about the island. It did a great job concluding everything for the characters, and the show said that that was what it was all about anyway (the story of these people). But I know that this whole series has been building on the mystery of this island along side the development and relationships of these characters. I still think they left a good amount about the island a mystery. Maybe thats the point, going off on the whole faith concept. But as a viewer... especially if I was invested into the show, I would have liked more of a conclusion about the actual island itself.

$10 says they are saving it for something else. Movie? We'll see.

Yea. I hear you. It would have been nice to have it all wrapped up in one big bow. The scientist part of my brain wants to know things like, how did an island bring down a jetliner? There isn't really an answer- well there is, but you know...

I feel like I'm making excuses for the writers, but......this whole story was set to be told in what? 20 episodes? It was 1 or 2 episodes into when the studio(ABC) pulled the rug out from the writers and told them to extend it. That can't be easy. So I know there was some fluff in the show - but it was all fun stuff. The hatch. Nikki and Paulo. All the back stories. Now I'm rambling...

I think the Island is an archetype for Earth/Humanity as a whole. No deeper explanation needed I'd think. The battle between good and evil is thew real story, the location is just the location.
