    does anyone have more info on this?

    The USPTO has just published IBM's patent application for a 'System and Method for Controlling Vehicle Engine Running State at Busy Intersections for Increased Fuel Consumption Efficiency.' Here's how Big Blue explains the invention: 'The present disclosure is directed to a method for managing engines in response to a traffic signal............

                          they better start making starters MUCH easier to service and of higher quality. there will be tons of them needing replaced all the time with shit.

                          Wonder if this tech incorporates the data tracking tax you by the mile boxes too

                                          I turn off my engine at long stoplights.

                                          More or less all of Germany turns off their engines at long stoplights and railroad crossings.

                                          It really helps cut down on a ton of pollution.
                                          Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
                                          Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
                                          Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."

                                              So what happens if there's an emergency and you need to perform an evasive maneuver? Do you have to politely ask Mr. Traffic Light to restart your car in a split-second reaction? I think not.

                                              Or what about if you need to move out of the way for an emergency vehicle coming through the intersection? :???:
