Even if you had the green in hand, Toyota has to choose you.

In other words, you have to be appealing to their marketing department, and some sort of a high profile person, seen and wanted to be seen.

Kinda of making sure their car will be seen driven by celebs and power mongers.

Sadly, I bet Paul Walker would qualify...

^^This is true. However, back when the F40 came out a friend's father (a dentist) bought one. Stuck it in his garage. Never drove it. Just waited for the Japanese guy's check to clear before shipping it across the pond. He made a mint. He made me mad.

I can see Toyota's point about leasing it for 2 years, but NOT their idea that you must be socially qualified to get one, nor the 2-year lease up front agreement.

its their car so they can do what they want!!! Lexus will sell or "lease" them all. Bet Leno gets one!

I'm willing to bet it won't need an engine rebuild every X,000 miles like a ferrari does! or have parts consistently breaking and bad customer service like Lambo.

                  Hopefully the LF-A won't roll over..haha!

I wouldn't spend even a quarter of that amount for a car thats related to a Prius.

Some of you guys crack me up.. The people who are interested in a car like this don't need to worry about a Ferrari being cheaper.. In fact, the people who are buying this car probably already own a Ferrari or two.

I'm betting that it will, but that by the time an owner would ever reach said mileage, the lease is up and they're moving on to the next big thing. You are forgetting that this is an incredibly high-strung engine and WILL require crazy service intervals and rebuilds to keep it on the road. If you want to compare reliability records, let's compare F1 cars, since this engine has far more in common with those engines than it does a Corolla. Based on Toyota's record in that arena I'll take my chances with a Ferrari, thank you.

Hopefully Jarno Trulli doesn't get to drive some of these or they will be down from 500 to 50 in no time.
