    Old Merc question

So my friend just bought a 1984 300D turbo and he's lookin to buy an air filter. Problem is, it's the California model or some shit and the air filter alone is $50. Anyone know of a cheaper one? I've seen em at Autozone for like $10, but it's a totally different shape/size compared to the lame ass Cali version.

Couldn't he for less than 50 bucks buy a non cali air box and then when going to get emissions swap the air box.

Never thought of that. But then, seeing as how we're both in Cali, what are the odds of finding a non Cali 300D in a junkyard? He also thought of fabbing up an intake/heat shield and just getting a cheap K&N. We definitely got options, but he just asked me to see if I could find a place to get an oem one for cheaper than $50. ;)
