i am picking up a droid in aug. when i get my upgrade.
i have verizon, if i root it, will i be screwed on warrenty?
i seem to have issues with phones and send them back for replacement often.

rooting it is fine. they say it voids warranty but plenty do it and they dont care. and its a software mod, you can go back to stock if u want at any timeOriginally posted by george gravesComment

so by rooting, i installed a custom kernel an overclocked my phone to 1ghz, so its way faster. you can also install a full backup app, i use titanium backup, and i have wireless tether which is the coolest thing everOriginally posted by george gravesComment

It's similar to "jailbreaking" iphones. Gives you control over stuff the phone manufacturer doesn't want to let you control, like the phone's operating system internals and fiddly bits. In this case, allows you to install the currently unreleased, upcoming version of Android, which has a lot of cool features.Comment

i rooted the droid. they are actively working on the incredible now. itll happen. unlike the iphone tho, when u root a droid phone u can install custom phones and boot loaders. its a whole different ball gameOriginally posted by george gravesComment

i am looking at either the HTC Hero or the Motorola Droid.
i am not sure about how much i will cope with the touch screen for texting and dialing etc.
i like how the Droid has a actual keyboard for us older folk, but like the thinner Hero (and the cheaper price too).
i know that the Incredible will be faster/better than the Hero, but am not sure about the extra $ being worth it for me.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

moto droid here, have not gotten around to rooting mine yet or doing many apps. I love mine, the hard keyboard for texting is what got me. But the 2.1.1 up date gives you voice to txt for while you are driving and what not that works quite well.
I love mine, I have instant News and weather based on you actual location. I read 3 news papers a day mostly from my phone. if you go root, go grab the rom manager app. it does EVERYTHING for you
