Good shit man. I used to be really really into tri a few years back and my dad and I trained and raced together. I actually ended up starting to place nationally and picked up a sponsorship from trisports.com and it was awesome. But then my dad got sick and couldnt race anymore and I lost my inspiration to continue and I had to stay home to help him out. I still road ride when its nice out, just dont compete.

Do it, riding with people is so much easier then riding alone usually.

And standing up to pedal is pretty inneficient so its not biggie, plus when you pass people on the uphills while sitting down you will feel BA

Haha I will feel BA. All the power comes from my left leg... so I have a fairly strong bun and thigh.

Actually in March I broke my femur in two in my stump! Haha I have the nest orthopedic surgeon on this coast and he couldn't believe it (I use to have extremely rare bone disease until the amputated on 5-16-2006). So yeah I get out and ride. It was funny actually that it happened because the crash wasn't so bad, but since my leg is made of titanium, carbon fiber, and aluminum... my femur was the weak point and the energy was just transferred right up.

Wow thats pretty crazy. The key for you is gonna be a really efficient power stroke. Back when i was training like crazy I did alot of one leg drills, unclipping one foot and working on having equal power through the whole 360 degrees of pedalling. When i first started doing that it was like riding a bull beucase my power transfer was pretty much all on the downstroke.

Yeah so just learn to pull up with the clips. Yeah I wanted to get out and ride with my one leg while recovering, but Mom wouldn't let me :( I havn't really even road my roadie because I have no pedals for it

Recovery was funnest part, wheelchair for a month and a half (I think it was that long). Lol Im BEAST at wheelchairs. I ride wheelies everywhere without the dumb wheelie bars. Haha

Haha I love messing around in wheel chairs. Its wierd, i cant manual on a bike for shit but i can do anything while in a wheelie on a wheel chair. Whenever i go somewhere and theres random wheel chairs i grab one haha

Dude, what pedals did you ride?

Yeah I cant hold a wheelie either. I have to pedal down, but my prosthesis dont do shit so I can get the second part of pulling the front end up. Its aggravating

Yup I can hold a wheelie and spin like 10 times around, and tilt the whole thing back so the front wheels are like a foot and a half off the ground. But for that you really have to lean forward. Wheelchairs are great because everything is so precise because you use your hands.

Speedplays. I rode shimano's for a while but i wanted to try something new when i got a new bike. The unlimited float (iirc thats what its called) is really cool.

Oh does your school have FOrtiguard? I HATE that shit!
