I was more or less kidding about the one-upping.
On another note, how long does it take to make one of those?
I really wanted to make a kayak out of wood a few years ago, but ended up buying an inflatable kayak instead.

Ever build tube stuff? I built a n00b amp out of a o1a tube when I was younger. I didnt have money for 6l6 or 12ax stuff so I never went on to build better stuff. Im still interested in it but now all my money goes to my bike and car.

              A smaller version:

And it literally is just black and red. Two spots used in my paint tray, and no mixing. The simplicity is easy.

I could knock one out in 4 days @ about 10 hours/day. IF everything goes right. Figure a couple evenings each week & you'd be done in around 3 months. Materials will run you $600-900 range, depending on your taste. It really isn't that hard. You just have to be precise & careful.

Taking the Fram up to Algonquin tomorrow to put-in for a week's float. Should be around 40 miles of paddling and 5 miles of carrying.

That's really impressive. I wouldn't even know where to begin if I was given the order to build something up like that. Looks great.

With me it would involve using a backhoe to lift up the gazebo (cracking a roof joist in the process). Then I'd look around for a couple of rocks to shove under it. Pound some nails into the end grain of some 2x6s, then glue some 3/8" MDF onto them for the deck. Done by noon.

Funny you should ask. This was the first time I attempted to add concavity. I can take a pic of it after work. I slightly staggered the pieces when I glued them . However, theres only a few degrees of concavity. I can still feel the concavity and it does help in the corners.

I can ;) I'll have the center up tomorrow but I sold my bark tables. I am currently making three now. If you want I'll do a complete walk through on making them.
