Denver Great American Beer Festival, Sept 16-18

The 2010 Great American Beer Festival is going to be this September 16-18 in Denver CO. Listed as one of the top 1000 things to see and do before you die, there are literally thousands of craft, major, and homebrewed beers available for consumption. There are tons of hotels in the area as well.

Tickets are $55 and buy you unlimited beer, entry to the seminars, and more. There are also designated driver tickets for $20.

I'm going for sure. The sooner you buy tickets the cheaper they will be.

    Description from their site:
What is the Great American Beer Festival? According to the Guinness Book of World RecordsĀ®, there is no other place on earth where a beer aficionado can find more beers on tap. The Great American Beer Festival is the American brewing industry's top public tasting opportunity and competition. Tasting sessions will offer attendees the opportunity to tour America's brewing landscape, one ounce at a time, with access to more than 2,000 different beers from more than 450 of the nation's finest breweries. The GABF gathers practically every type of beer from all of the regions of the country, and are arranged geographically on the festival floor. The festival allows visitors to taste the largest number and the widest variety of hand-crafted products in the American beer industry.
    Stats from last year:

common misconception. Our local craft breweries here in CO brew beers that are easily as good or better than anything I had in Europe over a year period incl Germany.

Very different styles, to be sure, but good beer can be found in the US!

I'm just messing with you. I'm not saying you can't make beer. All I had in mind is that most of beer found in stores in US is hardly a beer.

And as far as European beer goes - Germany does ok. But Belgium is the place to go. Usual rule for Belgium, Czech Rep., Poland - the least known, the better.

haha I figured. Same here, the least known breweries tend to be the best.

Bimmerman, Have you had one of the oscar blues stuff? I think its brewed near Denver? I really liked there stuff.

I'm pretty jealous, The Oregon Brew Fest is coming up here in a few weeks, but it's more spendy then yours.

The shit beer you're talking about is also priced cheaply. If im getting a beer at sometimes less than 50 cents/beer just to get fucked up why not? What kind of Polish beers are you talking about because I can go to a lot of stores in the U.S and there will plenty of beers better than Zywiec, Okocim an Lech (naming the big names) .

Zywiec, Okocim and Lech all suck. Sadly - none of these is Polish anymore (so maybe that's why they got bad).

I'm talking about non-pasteurized beers like Kasztelan and Ciechan - these are really nice. There is a couple of other local breweries that still oppose the big names.

They're in a town called Lyons - like 45mins from Denver out in BFE. It seems like that's where all of the good ones are :( But it's definitely worth the trip when you do get to go :)

Oskar's brewery is actually in Longmont, about 15 min from my house. They have a couple restaurants though, one of which is in Lyons (also 15 min from my house)

Surprisingly enough I haven't tried their beer yet. I've had tons of Odell (90 Shilling Ale is the shit!), New Belgium, Boulder Beer, Mountain Sun, but not Oskar yet. I think that might be this friday's beer tho.
