I dont think this would work.
The only people who change their own oil are mostly enthusiasts, who know to change it when it turns darker or they already have set intervals. Also 99% of us have a certain type of oil we have chosen that we stick to.
Every one else gets the window sticker that tells them to change it in so many miles. Which is more convenient than checking the dip stick.
I think the only advantage to this would be knowing exactly when your oil was no longer as protective as it should be. But you would also have to check your oil about every week.
