See my sig for picture of where we camped for 2 nights while doing day-packing into the edge of the old-growth. This was on the west side of the Hayman Wildfire Burn Area. ...stupid bitch didn't fully put out her camp fire back in 2002 and this is what it looks like today. cell phone panorama picture, but i took a bunch of photos with my camera as well, but haven't even started to go through them yet. the burn area went to and past the horizon, all you could see was dead sticks.

That is pretty wild. I'm sure the trip was still fun. Was there just an abundance of fuel on the ground. The Sierra Club can be blamed for most of the fires out west.

fire is important to the life cycle out west man, Give it a few more years and you will hardly notice it happened

We have places up to home that have seen burns as little as 15 years ago, that other than the trees being a little smallish you would hardly know there had been a fire.

Awesome pic, in 2002, that was the first wildfire I was called out onto when I first started Wildland Firefighting. It was an epic trip and fire. Really had a blast out there hiking those mountains. Probably the best fire I’ve ever been called out to.

So true. The supression of natural forest fires to protect valuable timber actually causes larger fires to occur in the long run. On that note fires are big business to me so let it burn! Just not people's houses that shit sucks.

I used to drive down to LA from Sacramento on a regular basis, in the summer, there was all kinds fires going on.
