    New iphone/ipod jailbreak, stupid simple.

The new jailbreak was just released. It does iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G. Basically any firmware will work, tethered, untethered, whatever bootrom etc, doesn't matter.

Just open up safari on your iphone or ipod and go to www.jailbreakme.com

I just did my iPhone4, finally got all my stupid apps back.

Very nice. I just ordered an Iphone 4 today so this is good news. Does it slow your phone at all? My 3g was jailbroken and my phone seemed much slower than before it was jailbroken.

A lot unless you buy it with a contract. my 32gb was 299 with a 2 year contract. I will be unlocking it myself.

Drunk girl at a party told me that they changed the laws and jailbreaking phones was no longer illegal. Any truth to this? Personally I've never heard that term applied to anything but the iPhone, maybe she meant unlocking?

its not illegal per se, but the companies still have the right to protect their service from jailbroken/rooted phones. thats why Sprint patched the 2.1Eclair Evo/Hero root.

Jailbreaking has never been illegal. Apple tried to claim it was illegal because, well, it's bad for their business. A judge recently ruled that it was not illegal so Apple can't sue or anything. Apple still has the right to protect it's devices from jailbreaking.

Awesome, I'll probably be doing this to my 3g.

How do you you get Apps, and do all the cool settings and stuff once it's jailbroken? Is it all pretty easy to do to someone who sucks at computers? I have some friends that have all kinds of cool shit done to their phones, but I'm not computer savvy...

I have jailbroken every iphone I have had, I never really had issues on any of them. There could be performance issues if you load up a ton of apps at once and eat up all the ram. But the iPhone 4 has a good amount of it anyways, multitasking alone I have brought my iphone 4 to its knees by having too many apps going, the jailbreak isn't really going to effect it.

The only issue I ever had was on my old 3gs (which I never did any jailbreak updates) maybe once every 3 months or so the springboard would crash when I would play pandora too long.

Yeah it's never been illegal to jailbreak, stealing apps though is another story, it would be like stealing anything else. The only thing apple can do is try and circumvent it, and have it void your warranty if you do it. However I have exchanged jailbroken phones at the apple store with no issues before. All you really have to do is a DFU flash back to stock firmware and they can't tell the difference.

In cydia go to manage, then sources. Add the source http://cydia.hackulo.us then search for a package called Installulous. Once that's installed it will be on your your phone like any other app and you can download paid apps for free with that.

Also Installulous will install app sync so you can sync your stolen apps to your computer and vice versa. Makes it nice for huge apps (like tom tom which is like 1.5gb) so you can download it on your computer and sync it over.

Also, yesterday when the forum was down, an app came out in cydia called "My3G" for you iphone 4 users it will allow you to do facetime on 3g instead of just wifi. Just search it in cydia to download.

I haven't done it yet just because the modmyi repo that hosts the package was down all day yesterday so I could never get the download to go.

Other apps I would suggest is 3g unrestrictor (my3g may be the same thing) which will allow you to run wifi apps on 3g. The main reason I really like it is youtube. It won't throttle your download so the video and audio quality is normal instead of horse shit. I hated when I tried to play a music video in my car to listen to some song and it sounded like shit.

SBSettings is nice too, you can have quick toggles to turn wifi on and off etc, also you can hide icons with it to clean up your phone. I always hide itunes, mail, maps, etc crap I never use.

There's also MyWi which is fucking delicious for all of you who have real unlimited data still. It pretty much will turn your phone into a wifi hotspot so you can connect your laptop(s) to it and use your phone for an internet connection without having to pay for tethering. Which is nice because my plan I got grandfathered in for reall 100% unlimited data. If I wanted to legitimately pay for tethering I would have to change my plan and not have unlimited data anymore which ATT does not offer anymore.

Ive been jailbreaking my ipod touch since it came out. It got easy when the firmware updates hit around 3.0

Then everything was basically press this button. Ok were done.

Nice. Just wish I had the unlimited data plan, it pisses me off that they're forcing a limit on BW.

I wish the dev would update USB Drive for 4.0. What other JB apps are everyone running?
