Also if you have windows 7, the new customer service thing where they can take over your computer from India is pretty useful. While i was changing from one AV to another i got some malware. It was posing as an AV program (it created tons of pop ups and shit trying to get me to sign up and give my CC number), so the AV programs couldnt detect it and get rid of it. I had this same problem on my old computer but was never able to get rid of it. Anyway after trying to delete it for an hour (remember i never got it off my old pc) i called Microsoft and they got rid of it in an hour by taking over my computer.

I see multiple people with the exact same virus on a daily basis at work. Fairly primitive virus. Usually goes by the name AntiVirSoft, occasionally you'll see it under another name but it's the same thing. For being relatively simple to remove it sure has spread like crazy.

I use Avast home version (read free version). I haven't had any problems at all while running this AV, and it updates its virus database daily.
