Really what do you want to do with it other than mow the grass??? I can help more to know what you have for other uses.
Oh and those are brush mowers out there on the roads, anything in a 72+ inch Finnish mower is getting up there and costs WAY more than a decent riding lawn mower from sears, with out the tractor to drag it around. Unless you are care taking of LOTS of Open acres that are in lawn its very cost prohibitive to do with that kind of equipment. How big is your yard, what kind of terrain and how many obstacles are in it (trees, fences, bushes, rocks, buildings etc...) This is info that is needed to point you in a good direction for your power equipment needsOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

FUCK put that shit into Hay production and make a killing on all the tools that have Polo Ponies and Show and Eventing horses around you guys. Even in just grass hay FUCK I bet 4 bucks a small bale (75-100lbs) plain field grass hay would be a steal.
Well lets see here going to take a few assumptions and say its WIDE open Field, and that you dont want it Finish Cut and a brush cut would be acceptable and that you would like to be able to do it in 2 10 hour days. Which is gonna be tough unless you want to spend some cash.
Your cheapest bet is a old ford 8n, IH H, (if its Green its expensive even if its old) but Alice Chalmers, Massey, are all going to do what you need in the price range. and just a 60-72 inch rotery mower, (as a kid we used to cut 240ac in CRP with IH H's and M's and it took us 8-10 days). Tractor will be 2500ish in good shape and mower will be 800-1200 new form the farm supply store. If you get a tractor with a 3 point hitch you dont need a Hydro out put as the Up and down is done via that. If you find something with just a draw bar then yes you need a buy rotary mower that is set up for than at will need a hydro out put to control the height.
Now If you want to spend some money, and be able to burn this job out and just have some cool toys this is what I would be getting if I had a sufficient budget Massey Ferguson (if you have a AgCo dealer close) A 500 series MF583, and a RX1500 15' rotary wing mower (or similar).
4x4 80hp 70pto (leaves you some room above the minimum for BIG mowers that need in the 50-60PTOhp minimums) MSRP34ish used high teens to mid 20's For a similar speced unit thats a bit older and not necessarily this model
hooked to this 15 foot towed wing cutter can be found new 8-12k+ depending on Brand, and used from about 5500 and up used depending on condition.
Now there are many combination and variations in brands and what sizes and costs. nut if you have a easy terrain and good cutting pattern the set up with pics I posted at a ground speed of about 3mph its going to take you 33.5 hours to cut. If you bump your speed up to 6ish it gets you down to about 20 hours. But if you have a just a normal field you would hardly be able to stay in the seat and the cutter would be hard pressed to keep up if the brush is too long. SO there you have it.Last edited by mrsleeve; 08-15-2010, 02:58 PM.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

There are several types, and if you are making hay silage you best be careful how and where you store it, so the barn dose not burn down. Thats why feed bunks were invented but the nutritional value of silage falls off fast due the fact that its not dried out well and ferments and rots. Also only really good for ruminants (animals that chew a cud) like cows, horses dont like it and will Colic like a mother fucker if they get into it but wont eat by choice most of the time.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.
