Nice! I'm going to read the build thread now. I really want to do a m20 swap in my 2002. Why did you decide to go m42?

It's actually the third m42 swap I have done...

      Light....
      revy...
fits without having to cut the entire front of the car out
Keeps the balance very similar to the m10 if not better

I have been thinking about doing something else with my own personal 02 this winter....maybe turbo, maybe SC....maybe nothing

I have a fiat 500 with a bike engine to build too...

Looks great Jake I think thats the ultimate 02 swap. relatively inexpensive, great reliable motor and decent power to weight. For the few extra HP you get with the s14 it costs a whole lot more

nice. when my 91 318is was totaled by some jerk kid, i thought about finding a 2002. i was told that the motor was too tall to fit without modifying the hood, thats not what stopped me, but is that the case?

the M42 is a great little motor. Put an m20 single mass flywheel and jim c or mark d chip. makes the motor come alive.

EDIT: I was told by that asshole ^^^

haha, nope it fits fine. It actually count go about an inch lower than I put them but then the trans hits the steering.

This car actually has a 323 flywheel and m20 clutch. A chip would be nice....hmmm

Wow, going to read the build thread tonight.

Considering my dad and I both have 2002's this would be a great build for one of cars.

a rear mounted turbo setup might be easier considering space issues in the bay. A DASC setup might fit nicely though, not sure with the strut bar.
