What do you think of the new 5 series?

Saw one on the road for the first time yesterday. Why it took so long, I'll never know.

When I saw it at the NY auto show back in april, I was not impressed, especially by the grand tourer version. (I mean, a 5 series hatchback?). But over time, the design began to grow on me, and when I finally saw one in action yesterday, I was quite stricken.

In my opinion, it is the first 5 series that looks like a direct descendant of the e34. The e39 and e60's missed the mark, and didn't quite capture the BMW signature look.

This one looks pretty badass, has a stron kidney grill, and the L shaped taillights that I believe the 5 series should have.

    Whaddyoo think?

Earlier this week I saw one on the street for the first time, though I've read a load of reviews in the mags already. So far I like the styling, and find it to be a descendant of the E39 (as to the mags). Next time I see one I'll try to get your E34 vibe about it.

I've been trying for so long to get used to the E60, thinking I might pick up a used M5. I know it's a killer car, but I have to love how it looks. So, I end up doing nothing, continuing to pile on the miles on the old 540, dicking around with the E30 project, and contemplating E28s. That said, maybe the F10 will do it for me.

I like it a lot, E60 looked like a Galant or some other generic Japanese car.

My dad wants to buy an XI one. He's thinking about waiting for the Touring to come stateside, but everyone in my family is sick of having station wagons.

I'm absolutely in love with the F10, though I've yet to see one in person. The only thing I don't like is the absolute lack of interesting colors. White and black seem to be the best available options at the moment. I'm assuming this will change as the model progresses and as the M5 is released.

I never really like the e60 with the exception of the 550i sports package and the m5 of course, but was never in love. Everyone says the taillights look too Toyota-ish on the f10, but I disagree. I think this car is definitely a worthy successor to the e39.

FYI the wagon will never come here. They designed the GT to replace the F10 wagon in the US.

Yeah, but you have a touring. as far as the e39 goes, I think the touring is much nicer than the standard sedan.

Strange, I find the Mk6 Golf doing this to me.

i think the e39 is the pinnacle of 5series styling, and the new one is certainly a lot better than the E60, which i didn't not like.

regardless, it looks a hell of a lot better than the E90!

It's a good looking car. Haven't driven one yet.

I drove the brand new 750 though and holy fuck that car is nice. So much better than the older 750, and I'm not a huge fan of the e60. e90s are a blast though.

No matter what, after a few years the super expensive cars always feel like they are falling apart and super old.

That damn x6 is fucking awesome to drive, though. And so nice inside as well.

I like the e60 better, The eye brow things on the headlights made them look sinister. My friends dad has an e60 535i with e39 m5 wheels, angel eyes, and hid fogs, it looks mean as hell.

Park it next to any other nice car and it will look ugly as hell. Next to an rs4 it's just sad how bad it looks.
