Feel free to toss out other suggestions...

That is, besides usenet and DC++/IRC based clients.

Blocks IPs of known RIAA/douchebag agencies. Basically they will download popular "illegal" torrents and record the IP of anyone who uploads to them, then track down their ISP and you get a warning.

Also what is a DC++/IRC based client?
Old school hub-based direct connect. You join a chat room and then have access to everyone's shared files.

                What's a private tracker?
Trackers (which basically organize a torrent) that are not open to any-swingin'-dick. The downside is that you need a login to the site that provides the tracker. The upside is that there is a diminished likelihood of IP-gathering RIAA douchebags being on the other end of the torrent.

If you forgot to ask about usenet, check out mantup.com. It's pretty legit but it's not free.

i've been torrenting for the last 5 years. mostly use thepiratebay, now that isohunt is nothing but a search engine for US users due to a lawsuit. so far no warning letters. no nothing from the gov.

my guess of how i fly under the radar( like most people who torrent) so well is that i dont download 40GB+ in one sitting and dont have torrents downloading 24/7. also as soon as a torrent finishes downloading i stop it uploading.

I used to use Limewire to download single songs and torrents for larger albums/videos/moves/etc. But after the last update mine no longer works, are there any other good choices for simple p2p engines?
