    Question regarding Email accounts

    I have been using Hotmail for ages, but since they have updated their services, you can no longer use Outlook Express to manage the email account.

    So I have several options:

    1) Pay for the Hotmail service so I can use Outlook Express
    2) Get rid of Hotmail, and just use the email address that my cable service provider can give me. (But then I would lose the access to my email unless I'm at home..)

    3) Is there any services (Gmail?) that lets you use a Outlook Express or OE like program to manage Email accounts?

    I don't wanna pay for Hotmail when it's always been free, for all I know, their fees could increase. I can also get a free email address from the cable provider, so seems stupid to pay Hotmail.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

      I'd go with your ISP. Or GMail - They let you use POP3 if you don't like their web interface, but I think its great. And they're up to like 2 gigs and 10 meg attachments now (not that you need it all). Best of all, no ads.

        thanks for the reply.

        Sounds like Gmail is the way to go. I don't know what ISP or POP3 means, what program can I use to manage the account? Can I keep using Outlook Express?
        thanks again.

          ISP = Internet Service Provider
          POP3 = Post Office Protocol 3

          Because the above makes little to no sense:

          Your ISP is the company who supplies your internet connection. They usually come with an email account. Comcast, for example, gives 5 email accounts for every subscription.

          But if you want to try Gmail, its good too. Very easy to use. Basically POP3 means that you can use other programs, like Outlook, to view/send your email. Heres how to configure Gmail w/ Outlook Express. There will always be people who like/dislike different email services. Just try 'em and see what you like the most. If you need an invite PM me your email addy or I'm sure someone else can hook you up if you post here.

              Works well. I use that on my PDA phone to get my home ISP email. The PDA gets my MS Exchange email from the office automatically.
