      You'd probably get your ass kicked by a 2 toof redneck if you said anything other than coke referring to a Coca Cola or Pepsi or anything really. Lots of the original Coca Cola factories in the south, hence the Coke branding.

                Soda is carbonated water A.K.A. Club Soda, NOT Tonic Water

                Pop is refers to all carbonated beverages regardless of brand

                Coke is Coca Cola and not Pepsi...if I wanted a Pepsi, I'd ask for one

                  You canadian asshole.... Dont you EVER mix up a Texan with a true southerner. Texans are Texans. Southerners are from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee. Bible belt style. Theres a big difference in the accent too, and how they dress, how they cook meat, etc.. :)

                      I learned it as pop from my parents. Soda to me refers to the stuff that comes out of the second option of the 7up (soda water).
