Gran Turismo 5 R3V racing series

GT5 is here! Let's get some online racing going: This racing series will have all participants racing in the same type of car which turns the series into a competition where tuning ability, race strategy, car control skills, and luck come into play. The Forza guys have had virtual Pro3 and SpecE30 type races for a while and now its the PS3 guys' turn.


Series Information:The series will consist of (6) 5 lap races + a 2 lap final race on the Nürburgring. The series will run for 3 weeks. There will be 3 races (back to back) on week 1 and week 2. The final race will be held week 3. Clean racing is expected. Bumps and accidents happen but blatant brake-checking and ramming is lame. Bumping and shortcut penalties will not be in place but you can and will be kicked out of the series if you race like a 10 year old. Starting date and time shown below
Scoring: The points system will be used as follows. It has been adapted to work for 16 players but will be used regardless of how many people actually show up to race. Points are awarded for each race and the point standings will be posted below.
1st Place: 40
2nd: 34
3rd: 29
4th: 24
5th: 21
6th: 18
7th: 15
8th: 12
9th: 10
10th: 8
11th: 6
12th: 5
13th: 4
14th: 3
15th: 2
16th: 1

If only 8 people race then last place will recieve 12 points (8th place).

Car Choice:
The car to be used in this series is the Z4 3.0i . This is due to it being cheap and a Level 2 so that people dont have to enter and win a lot of events to be eligible to buy it. Since there is no way to regulate what modifications can be used on the car it will be open to any and all modifications. So make the fastest Z4 possible, put whatever you want on it, no limits , just as long as its a Z4.

How to join online races:

Go to the lounge in my profile and join in:

In GT Mode go to the left side bar and select COMMUNITY, then find my profile (littlemooney). When you select my profile it will bring up a column of items for my profile: Messageboard, Log, Mail, Gifts, Lounge. Select LOUNGE. Join in and you will be able to race. Add me as a friend on the playstation network if you do not see my profile listed.

I hope we can get something going, if we dont get enough people from here then im sure I can get some people from some other car forums.

I'd be all over it. I've been waiting for this for SO LONG. I hope somehow, some way the E30 makes it to GT5, I don't want to resort to buying a 360 and Forza JUST to race in the PRO 3 series... I will though.

Seriously though, sign me up, i'd be all over it. I vote for the races to be on the weekends, i'm pretty busy during the week due to work.

Weekends would work for me too. Or like friday nights, as every other night my Mum hogs up the TV (im 16).

The E30 M3 will likely be in.

I know the game is still a few weeks away and adding the things I have to the main post may be a bit too soon :P but perhaps it will draw some excitement and seriousness that will help get this to work. I will be incredibly stoked if the e30 M3 makes it in. It is crazy to think they dont have it by now. The 190E Evo needs some competition!

One of my favorite cars in GT4 is that BMW 320i Touring Car.
Its like 260hp stock?

Oh man I totally forgot about that one! Id think it would need to be something somewhat affordable so people could earn enough money in a few hours after starting the game to get the car we will use.
I added a list of confirmed BMW's in GT5 and the BMW's available from GT4 (since word is that all the GT4 cars are in GT5) as a list to ponder.

Yeah I love that little 320i, as it is stable as hell and perfect for endurance races. Fully tuned, it can hang with some good cars

Oh and anyone that hasn't tried Gran Turismo with a steering wheel yet is missing out. I could hardly drive any fast car on the ring in GT4 with a controller but with a wheel you can easily pull clean laps. Hitting apexes gets addicting, or attempting to at least.
