mine wants an e46 m3 convertable, i'm encouraging this decision. :) She's been to performance driving and school and stuff - her dad used to race nascar and is a huge racing freak (which is great). Only problem is, she loves nascar too... so she looses a lot of points.

My gf is a five. She hasn't had to help with a motor swap yet (planned for summer), but she deffinately helps with everything else.

She never buys any car parts for me (she doesn't know what I need), but my birthday was Saturday, so she secretly baked me a cake and made it to the shape of my car. She even remembered to put on the little kidney grills and the hood and trunk roundels! She had to bake four cakes and stack them on top of themselves to make it big enough to sculpt my car. And she did all that in her dorm room!

So does that mean your left hand does not get used when you work on the car?

the current interest is worse than a 1....she MISSES her Saturn and drives a Malibu. (jesus fuck a duck, what a turd!) She would rather spend time fishing and hiking. Oh well, all that shit happens in the mouantains, and there are roads leading to the "outdoorsy" crap, so I can deal.

As far as the whole "Garage time" vs. "chick time" thing, I once got a hand job while working on a car, so my opinion changed. Forever.

My wife flip-flops (anyone who is married won't be surprised). She likes that I have a hobby, and is somewhat jealous of that. However, she doesn't understand the $500+ month deposit into my "car mod savings account" which is a little more than what goes into the 401(k). However, when I take her to a track and she gets to drive a BMW fast, she fucking loves it and doesn't want to stop.

God bless you son... for real. The wife once volunteered to help me christen the hood of my e30. Birthday is in July... its the only thing going on my list.

My good little woman is a 3...However, if I needed a hand and it was something she could do she'd hop on up to 5 to help out.

Mines like a 3.75 or so... she doesn't mind my hobby and actually takes interest in it, and she's interested in learning about them.

She's also considering an E30 cab as her first car.

                              eh, i give mine a 3.5.

good: she used to have a z32 300zx, and later an e30 325i with some previous-owner mods.

bad: she r3v'ed the e30 (killing a set of 16" BBS's i was trying to get her to sell me ), and now drives an a3 golf, and even though she hates how it handles i can't get her to agree to suspension upgrades... i had to buy her falkens for her b-day just so she didn't run another set of costco all-seasons, and she insisted on going to the dealership to get front CA bushings done (at higher cost than urethane at an independent shop would have been).
                              past:
                              1989 325is (learner shitbox)
                              1986 325e (turbo dorito)
                              1991 318ic (5-lug ITB)
                              1985 323i baur
                              current:
                              1995 M3 (suspension, 17x9/255-40, borla)

My GF has a hobby of her own,
horses, and she really into them,
so I can spend as much time playing with cars as she does horses,
                                works great
