I don't understand why you think they would make an American version, that seems almost impossible to do without totally ruining it.
Exactly. An american version would be tamed and niceified. Girl with the dragon tat worked because it was brutal and unforgiving towards its characters. Almost no american movies are willing to do this. David Fincher (Se7en) would though, now that i think about it.
