They're coated in a dense rubber for insulation. Rogue is the only brewery I've seen use such kegs. Probably why they're $50 each for the deposit.

I found out that they're not going to brew the Younger's Special Bitter anymore due to low demand. These were from the Eugene brewery. A final small batch of it. I picked up some of the last kegs. fyi with an enpty spare well a keg will stand upright in an e30's trunk while closed. pretty much a perfect fit. That's how i'd always transport my kegerator's beer before a got a truck to DDComment
