Pics of another project: Wakeboard/snowboard winch

I designed everything on this. All parts built and welded by me.

Entirely designed in cad (drawing the motor was a pain in the ass)

    Motor: 11.50 Ft-lb B&S
    CVT: GTC2 #35 11 tooth drive
    I am burning 5 different chainrings: 35, 40, 48, 55, 66
Drum: 6,8,10 variable (if the non round drum is annoying, I can easily make a round center one)
Non-live axle. Integrated bearings on either hub allow for a narrower stance.
    Material: 304SS, 6061-T6 AL

What separates my winch from others' (besides the aesthetics) is the external quick release spool pedal. Located on the operator side of the machine, a simple stomp of the foot will disengage the spool from the drive. I've added a few pictures of the mechanism.

I already have all the purchased parts. I sent the sheet metal to the laser table queue today, so I expect to have that by the end of next week... in the meantime, I plan to start machining the hubs.

As far as the design, I threw in a little old-school Nintendo Megaman Flair... and a Joe Dirt footprint pedal.

    THE DESIGN:

All the sheet metal lasered and bent

    Parts pile

    Hubs machined

Coming along well. My release system works well, step on the pedal and the drum freewheels very easily.

In this pic you can kind of see the drum release mechanism.

And Here's a video of it:

Powdercoated and ready to rock. Added a huge E-stop on the top, just in case...

If walked by this at first glance I'd think it were some crazy BBQ or something. AutoCAD ftw

This is like my 5th time catching air in a year, so don't hate too hard:

                      Hahaha that is awesome.

So there's a long cable with some kind of handle attached, you let the cable out, hang on, have someone press "start" and the winch pulls you in? Do you just use a leather strap or something like that to hold onto? I'd assume anything burlier might whip around the spool cover and damage it?

P.S. you are awesome but not that awesome so please smell your fart, but don't revel in it. It still smells. But you are cool.

You just needed a little better landing and you would have that fs 360 down for sure.

I can usually nail FS or BS 360s no sweat, but landing in powder on a not steep hill makes it tough. Next time I set it up I am going to find a steeper hill to land on.

good work man. I've always imagined riding a winch through the gene leahy mall here in Omaha.
