    Remote control cars for boys?

    Duratrax Vendetta SC RTR?
Tower Hobbies carries an expansive collection of RC cars, RC airplanes, RC boats, model trains, sot cars, and supplies for all hobbyists.

Is this any good for a basic RTR car? I have not been into RC's in 10 years or so and my GF's kids want one bad. My son and I had Tamiya's and they were great but deflated dollar means they cost more these days.

Plus at 1/18 scale they could be run in the garage.

    Thoughts and opinions?

Team Losi has a bunch of 1/18ths. Most rtr.
They're what i run, check it out.

Losi has performance you can depend on. Losi RC cars, RC trucks, and RC buggies leverage innovative designs with scale realism perfect for racing with friends or competing.

I wouldn't get the 1/36th or 1/24th. They're too small, delicate, and actually harder to work on I think.

I ran a duratrax mini quake a few years ago. I thought that was a fun and fast little bugger. I gave it to erict on here. I had a good 300.00 in hopup parts on it alone.

Team Losi was just a break away from Associated correct. Basically I need a durable beater up for some twin 8 year olds.

My stepdad and i ran Associated and Losi since i can remember. I would just get 1 or 2 Mini-Ts. Theyre cheaper than the rest, entry-level therefore easy to use and fix, parts are readily available and cheapish if they break. It was the first 1/18th scale i got, and it pretty much launched the 1/18th industry.

This was a few years back and then they only had 2 1/18th cars from losi. I just went to the site and i guess they have ALOT more choices now. Just my .02

I bought my daughter a Pro-Pulse 1/18 truck a few years back at RS for 110 bucks. Durable, upradable and cheep. You can get them now for under 60 bucks at various online stores. They will do 20+ mph out of the box and with brushless upgrades are capable of a lot more. They are not Traxxas, losi or HPI quality but close for a lot less money.

should you be worried about the front diff on those hard launches? Sorry, iX joke. Serioulsy, those things look fun as hell. Would people consider me a geek if i bought one and played with it in my back yard?

That's the best place to play with one! If you want to play in the grass a 1/10th scale monster truck, buggy or truck would be best as they don't tend to get stuck in the grass as much as a 1/18th scale would. I have a Team Associated RC18R, the rally car version, and it is a lo of fun with the brushless motor in it. Way too low to the floor for anything but really smoth dirt and asphalt.

                              What about a crawler?

They can be run anywere, and EVERYTHING is an obstacle.
