GF got me a Salomon Villain 153 a few weeks ago as an early b-day gift, I love it. Way more stable then the WWW at speed, much better for jumping.
The Weapon is back at K2 to get warrantied...again, at least I'll have a new board to break in next season. Headed to Loveland tomorrow to rip some slush for closing day!
So I rode my board enough to get a decent review on it. This board loves the street set-ups/tight transitions, and is very stable on rails. It handles jumps pretty good, but is too soft for my liking. I had some manual landings that I was not expecting and not too happy about. Also, due to the flat shape it is prone to catching an edge. I had a couple unexpected catches when I was riding my set-up at home on the hard-pack, but not as many on the softer snow that I rode at the local hill. Over all a great board, but I would like to see a triple base contour matched with dead flat camber. I think that would be perfect.
I also had a little accident when I was at the local hill....
Still getting around to fixing it... I was going for a wallie to gap over the back half of a 3/4 rainbow box and, well the lip blew out and my board went under... Not fun!
I'm going up tomorrow to bring my daughter to her 4th lesson, and I'm going to pound the parks while she's there. Going to start trying to hit the smaller jumps switch and see if I can throw some small 180s. I'd REALLY like to be able to throw some 360s by the end of the season.
The MagneTraction Gnu's (was looking at the A.S.S. Pickle..) and other banana/camber boards were tempting, but I really liked the idea of a flat board to basically give you the same feel. I'm curious to see how she rides.
No camber or rocker at all, eh? You'll have to let us know how that one rides!
My boss just let me borrow his LibTech Dark Series, gonna see how I like that, but I'm heavily considering getting one of the MagneTraction Gnu's this year at the end of the season.
Video from last weekend, with 2 of my friends throwing their first ever front flips, then some epic tree powder:
I'm calling in sick tomorrow and getting the snorkel out. Mt Baker has reported 7.5' feet of fresh since sunday. It's snopacolypse in the NW right now.
I need to get out and ride this winter. I pretty much stopped after I blew my ACL out back in my VT days. It really pissed me off that I missed out on almost a year of skating because of that.
Oh and to give you all an idea of when that was.. ride horseshoe bindings were so hot.
i have the oldest set up ever hahaha but ive been riding it for a few years and i have never riden anything else.
old lace up 32's
luxory board (even a company anymore??) i received as a hand me down in like 2001 (i was like 9?)lol.
