    No SUV's was a main bullet, as was AWD. The AWD options were all listed really. For hauling family and getting good mileage a TDI would be my choice. I live in the UP and see 200'' of snow a year, FWD is just fine.

    i agree some what.... fwd usually isn't too bad.
    with that said, i'm going throw a mazda6 wagon into the hat.

    But if she does need the awd, then it sounds like you got the bases covered. Now go do some test drives, and shopping.

    There are many good wagons out there with AWD, but does she really need it? Most people are more than fine with FWD unless she lives in back country or Michigan's UP. As a son, you owe her snow tires.
