So at one point I decided I wanted to work on cars for a living. So I went to school, read some books and took some ASE tests. Then I was told I could make more money with more ASE's, so I got some more, and more (a1-a8 ). Now I am a service advisor, not working on cars at all and 2 of my certs are up this year. I asked my boss if he would pay for retests just to keep them current, he said no. There is no real point for me keeping them current at this time but you never know. The tests aren't cheap and they are up soon. Opinions?

Do you see yourself needing them in a career move within the window of the certification? If yes then go and take the test. If no then listen to the boss.1987 325i LeChump: H&R Race springs, weight reduction and beat to hell

All of the worst mechanics I've encountered have been ASE certified. Don't do it, I see it as a crutch.'89 325is S50 Track Montser
