    Cross country road trip la-nyc

The e30 is staying in the garage for this one...

Ill be heading out Tuesday the 28th and hopefully ill make it to DC by Jan 3rd.
My friend is moving there and I decided to tag along for the trip since I have never done something like this before. New years in New Orleans
Stops along the way include: Phoenix, Flagstaff (grand canyon hike), Dallas, New Orleans, Montgomery, Charlottesville then DC... Ill be taking a bus to NYC from there to celebrate my cousins's wedding.
Staying in NYC for a few days then flying back.

Any suggestions? I know allot of Forum members live in these states or have done something like this before.

thats a ton of stops and shit planed for 6 day drive coast to coast. You are gonna be wiped out by the time you make DC.

Well with it being winter time weather is always a possibility, even on the southern routes.

well... the goal is to make it to New Orleans by New Years... after that there isn't much of a rush.
The friend I'm going with has family in each stop except for New Orleans.

just talking from expierance 6 days WITH STOPS for sight seeing/family and what not is not that much time to go coast to coast. I live out west and work in Central PA and NY state mostly, It takes me a good 3 1/2 to 4 days this time of year ( granted thats with lots of weather to contend with) to and from work driving 12+ hours a day .

good to know. thanks for the heads up.
So basically I can expect a negative driving to sightseeing ratio... and a sore back?

6 days is doable.i drove from northern canada to LA and it took me 3 long days.... so 6 days coast to coast will be fine. honestly you always think long road trips will be fun, but if your strapped for time and you have to get there they begin to drive you crazy.

i still have to drive back to northern canada in the spring... its a 1500mile trip.... im going to go up the golden coast... even though its a beautiful drive im dreading it.

yup, the sore back, and what not is debatable just depending on what you are riding in /driving. My DD is comfortable and has big cushy seats, its as close to a lazyboy as you can get in a HD truck.

But yeah long drives are only fun when there is NO TIME CONSTRAINT AT ALL and you are only doing it for the joy of it. I have a trip planed for a year or 2 from now that will be a good month or more and never go near an interstate but thats for another thread

NC>LA with summer weather, took me 78 hours with stops to eat and rest. At least half of those 78 were behind the wheel.

the trip was awesome... did encounter some rain and wind in az. but in two hours and shit mpg's we got out of it and proceeded on an 18 hr drive to Dallas.
had an awesome time in every city. spent nye in dalas then sat night in nola. didn't have anywhere to sleep there so we didn't. bars close 5am there. insanity.

well. I'm in NYC now and had an awesome time sledding in central park haha. I forgot how much fun snowball fights were.

I think I only saw 3 e30's on the whole trip (outside of LA and NYC)... I just saw this sweet white coupe in the city with some bigger weaves, skirt and lowered. also had the license plate black block out thing.
