Something tells me that using a tool once a week is very different than using it 8 hours a day.

I assume that if it was your first day on a construction site and you showed up with a Ryobi you'd be laughed at?

It probably depends more on the specs and quality of the particular drill than the brand name. I imagine Ryobi makes some good stuff, and some shitty stuff.

^ just like almost every other company.

It was $50. If it craps out big deal right? Over GJ people talked about the 2001-2003 Ryobi recall on this near identical model. They all beat the hell out of theirs and it still works fine

Depends if they are assholes. But that brand is like sub par, like for a weekend DIY. For 50 bucks that sounds like a good deal.

Craftsman, Hitachi, Milwaukee, Bosch and a few others are top notch. I have been doing construction for 13 years, and have seen some funny tools brought on the first day. Have had my Craftsman 19.2 cordless set for going on 7 years. I also have a Hitachi corded hammer drill, it is a monster.

The batteries are almost 50 dollars for my 19.2, I guess that gives you an idea.

I'm susprised that these isn't one or two industry standard. How's DeWalt?

I have a DeWalt brand corded and sawzall. The corded works well, it has a low RPM and a good amount of trq for sinking. The sawzall does the job, not as good as the milwaukee that was stolen from the back of my Dad's truck.

In my vast experience of power tools the DaWalt brand holds up very well. Their battery powered stuff is shit, I only trust Craftsman for that area.

I have owned every brand of power tools on the market currently, the only ones that have made it longer than two years is the ones I have listed before hand.

The DeWalt corded is the first one of it's make in our line up. It powered through a summer of deck building. Only complant is they over heat and then lag. The other ones we have do not do that. The Hitachi corded hammer is my favorite. It will drill 12"+ holes in slabs of concrete and never bitch.
